A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Beldner is board certified in both orthopedic surgery and hand surgery. His practice encompasses disorders from and including the elbow to the finger tips.
Since its inception, he has been the Director of Education for the Hand Fellowship Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Beth Israel Medical Center. He is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and also supervises the subspecialty hand training of the plastic surgery fellows of the Albert Einstein Medical School. Dr. Beldner has published many peer reviewed articles and book chapters regarding his subspecialty in hand problems. Dr. Beldner has been an active elected member of the New York Hand Society since 1998. In 2002, he received the Physician's Recognition Award from the American Medical Association. In 2008, he was chosen by his peers, to become Secretary of The New York Hand Society. This prestigious group includes elected hand surgeons from all over the tri-state area. In 2008, he was chosen as a New York Times Super Doc for his excellence in patient care regarding problems associated with the hand. Only the top 5% of all doctors were elected to this group.
Along with Dr. Charles Melone, Dr. Beldner has served as a hand consultant for the New Jersey Nets professional basketball team. He has also served on expert panels advising the New York State Athletic Commission regarding hand safety in boxing. As an invited speaker, he shares his expertise at both national and regional hand society meetings. He is also a sought after lecturer at local and national interest group meetings, such as the National Scleroderma Foundation and The American Operating Room Nurse's Society.He is on the faculty of the Division of Beth Israel Medical Center and is an attending physician at Beth Israel and Roosevelt Hospitals.
Dr. Beldner earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School in 1991 where he was awarded presidency of the Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed a General Surgery internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency at New York University/Bellevue Hospital, where he was named Chief Resident of the Year and was also honored with the Lillian Luskin Teaching Award. He then went on to pursue a Hand Surgery Fellowship at New York University Medical Center and became board certified in 1998. He received his certificate of added qualification/subspecialty training in Hand Surgery in 2000.
